Abstract:
(Análise da morfologia do fruto em espécies de Cyperus L. subg. Cyperus - Cyperaceae). Este trabalho apresenta uma análise da morfologia do fruto e da sua superfície em 16 táxons de Cyperus L. subg. Cyperus ocorrentes na Região Sul do Brasil, visando à obtenção de caracteres úteis para a sua diferenciação. Na análise macromorfológica destacam-se caracteres como tamanho, forma e cor dos frutos e características relacionadas à base dos mesmos. Na micromorfologia destacam-se caracteres como a ornamentação da superfície do fruto, a distribuição e forma das células epidérmicas, a altura e os limites das paredes anticlinais, o tipo de corpos silicosos e a presença ou não de conexões entre estes e as paredes anticlinais. São fornecidas tabelas comparativas entre os táxons e discutida a importância diagnóstica dos caracteres analisados. Os resultados obtidos sustentam a separação de espécies já bem diferenciadas pela morfologia externa, porém apresentam uma importância limitada na separação de espécies macromorfologicamente semelhantes. Por outro lado, reforçam a proposição de sinonímias para alguns táxons específicos ou infra-específicos.
(Morphological analysis of fruit characteristics in species of Cyperus L. subg. Cyperus - Cyperaceae). A morphological analysis of the fruit and its surface was carried out in 16 taxa of Cyperus L. subg. Cyperus from Southern Brazil, aiming to obtain useful characteristics for differentiation. In the macromorphological analysis, characters like size, shape, color and those related to the base of the fruit are especially relevant. In the micromorphological analysis, the most important characters are surface ornamentation, distribution and shape of the epidermal cells, height and limits of the anticlinal walls, type of silica bodies and presence or absence of connections between these and the anticlinal walls. Comparative tables for the taxa are provided and the diagnostic value of each character is discussed. The results support the differentiation of species that can be separated by external morphology, but have limited value in the differentiation of similar species. On the other hand, the results support proposals of synonymy for several taxa at specific or infraspecific levels.
